Fortezza da Basso

The over 100,000 square metres available inside our centre – of which 65,000 are roofed – are easily reachable by public transportation such as bus, tramway and taxi. They are located at the heart of Florence, the cradle of Renaissance, just a few steps away from the main railway station of Santa Maria Novella, ten minutes on foot from the Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore and from the main shopping streets, and only 5 km away from the Florence International Airport “Amerigo Vespucci”.

The three venues forming the congress and exhibition area are located next to each other and represent a unique opportunity to start a charming journey through the history and evolution of Florence – from the Fortezza da Basso, the pentagonal fortress built by Antonio da Sangallo ‘Il Giovane’ between 1534 and 1536 for the first Duke of Florence, Alessandro de’ Medici, a masterpiece of military Renaissance architecture, to Palazzo dei Congressi, hosted inside the 19th-century Villa Vittoria, surrounded by an ancient park, up to Palazzo degli Affari, opened in 1974 and planned by architect Pierluigi Spadolini.
