19th Annual Winter Conference on Pediatric Emergencies

19th Annual Winter Conference on Pediatric Emergencies

Our 19th Annual Winter Conference on Pediatric Emergencies focuses on many challenges facing pediatric and emergency physicians, nurse
practitioners, PAs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the clinical care of children. The goal of this conference is to increase the knowledge and enhance the competence of attendees. Emphasis will be placed on practical application of the evidence-based topics presented.
Topics for this year’s conference have been selected based on the educational needs determined from the identified professional practice gaps. The gaps were derived from a variety of sources including evaluations and outcomes data from past participants; clinical expert input; Symposia Medicus’ online survey; and other medical and nursing data.
Conference format will include didactic lectures, case studies, and question and answer sessions.
An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Each member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and ability to communicate current, evidence-based, and practical information to participants.
You are sure to enjoy our 19th Annual Winter Conference on Pediatric Emergencies while sharing ideas and experiences with colleagues from across the country in the beautiful setting of Big Sky, Montana.

AKI & CRRT 2019

AKI & CRRT 2019

We are dedicated to keeping our members up-to-date on the developments in Critical Care Nephrology. Supportive therapies for the management of critically ill patients continue to evolve as we gain new knowledge of the pathophysiology of multiorgan failure. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies continue to define a platform to launch novel methods of extracorporeal support. Applications of these techniques are now coupled with new biomarkers serving as diagnostics and theranostics to inform the optimal timing of intervention. As we learn more about critical illness, it is evident that the availability of these versatile techniques offers unprecedented opportunities to influence the outcome of organ failure.

AMIA 2019 Clinical Informatics Conference

AMIA 2019 Clinical Informatics Conference

The AMIA 2019 Informatics Summit follows the tradition of offering an exciting, innovative and engaging program around four main areas: Translational Bioinformatics, Clinical Research Informatics, Implementation Informatics and Data Science. We want to promote a vibrant scientific ensemble and connect within and across these knowledge domains, particularly looking for new ideas and innovations that bridge across these areas of the field. Our program will carefully blend scientifically sound “deep dive” sessions with equally essential offerings designed to promote learning, and the exchange of ideas and experiences. Expect to see activities dedicated to trending new areas, like 3D data methods and analytics to be part of the program.
Students, teachers, researchers, vendors and decision makers will all benefit from our unique environment of discovery and sharing. And while Summit attendance continues to expand, we are still at the right size to be the “coolest” and most accessible meeting of the year. That said, do not get distracted by the more relaxed ambiance…this meeting’s trademark of a highly intellectually energizing event remains!

21st Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine 2019

21st Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine 2019

On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to Bangkok for the 21st Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine 2019, held from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 January 2019 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. As many of you are already aware, the HIV Netherlands Australia Thailand Research Collaboration holds an International Bangkok Symposium on HIV Medicine in January every year.
The key objective of the annual Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine is to provide health care workers and members of the HIV-infected and affected community from Thailand and all over the world with a comprehensive review of the management of HIV infection and opportunistic infections, efforts to improve access to therapy as well as the latest updates on research into HIV treatments and vaccines.
The symposium also aims to stimulate debate through a series of panel discussions on issues such as access to care and the cost of ARV in developing countries. In the last 5 years, over 3,000 participants from Asia Pacific, Europe and the America have attended the symposium.
An expert faculty of speakers from Thailand, Asia, Australia, Europe and USA will present a comprehensive review of current HIV management. World class international and local speakers present plenary sessions and facilitate interactive workshops.
Key reasons to attend the Symposium
The Symposium is a premier medical-scientific conference in HIV and related diseases in South East Asia.
You will hear about the latest advances in HIV research and treatment from leading local and international experts.
You will gain recognition for Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), Continuing Pharmaceutical Education (CPE) and Continuing Medical Technology Education (CMTE).
You will have an opportunity to network with colleagues from the South East Asia region and all over the world.
You will have a chance to visit Bangkok, a beautiful city. A cosmopolitan, steamy, pulsating, yet smiling metropolis of more than ten millions – intense at first, but addictive as anything.

13th Human Amyloid Imaging

13th Human Amyloid Imaging

The 13th Human Amyloid Imaging will take place in Miami, Florida on January 16-18, 2019. My co-organizers for the meeting were, once more, Bill Klunk (University of Pittsburgh), Chet Mathis (University of Pittsburgh) and Bill Jagust (University of California, Berkeley).
At HAI 2019 we will continue to emphasize ample lively discussion of core controversies such as: what does the presence of brain amyloid mean, how should it be measured, how does it change, and what does it portend? Our discussions primarily will spring from brief presentations by active investigators who will report unpublished, cutting-edge research in human imaging of amyloid-beta and/or other biomarkers that pertain to Alzheimer’s-related disease.
To assemble HAI, we accept and peer-review only the most recent, important work, abstract submissions. The 2018 meeting drew more than 400 attendees and showcased 130 posters from research groups spanning North America, Europe, East Asia, and Australia.
Research reports are complemented at HAI by Keynote presentations that are intended to cross disciplines and provide perspectives from neuropathology, neurochemistry, psychology, neurology, molecular imaging, clinical trials and biomarker research.
In 2019, we are pleased to welcome two such presentations from Drs. Michel Goedert (University of Cambridge) and John Trojanowski (University of Pennsylvania). In addition to these, we will continue our lectures on basic methods in amyloid PET.
Looking forward to welcoming you to the 13th edition of HAI,
Keith A. Johnson, MD
Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School
